"montage as a means of description by placing single shots one after the other like building-blocks. The movement within these building-block shots, and the consequent length of the component pieces, was then considered as rhythm."

Eisenstein, 1949

This was my experimentation exercise for week three where we spent time studying theories of montage. I filmed my journey into university and edited the clips together, juxtaposing the images through montage. Even though I mainly shot inanimate objects I found myself putting a lot of focus on the clips which had people in them, playing around with going back and forth from these clips and trying to create a new narrative of my own making through the technique of montage. Through this process I had Eisenstein's theory of montage playing through my head and was very much trying to replicate some of his ideas.
