I made this experiment because I wanted to have a little more practice with the mask tool and with sound editing before heading into my final video. In the theme of me using found footage and home video, I found some old commercials to edit together and play around with. I decided to give each video a separate column on the screen which i achieved with the mask tool, this again adds to my idea of frames within frames and fragmentation of space. I then had a go at sound editing by muting and unmuting the channels of audio one by one, and eventually letting them build up into a crescendo at the end. Fragmenting sound is something that I have played with before but never as explicitly as this. In this experimentation I definitely realised what effect the sound can have on a video and how important it is to creating affect in the viewer.
