I wanted to continue with my exploration into sound within my ideas of sound and space fragmentation, and so with this experimentation that was my main idea going into it. The clip that I had from my home videos was something my mum shot whilst in Egypt and I realised whilst editing that the sound was only playing in the left channel. I went ahead to do my usual routine of using the "fill right with left" function on premiere. I then had the idea of creating an almost binaural experience by having different audio clips playing out of each speaker, creating a fractured feeling through the sound. To accompany the fractured audio I then inserted frames from the video and extended each of the durations to around 10 seconds per clip. This produces a strange and almost uncanny effect and creates a contrast between the time of audio and the time of the video. The video clips or frames don't abide by the usual time norms that most videos have, this is the thing that makes it uncanny. Playing with time in this way, holding on frames that you wouldn't normally hold on, could be an interesting technique to take forward.
