Through my research on experimental films, I came across flicker films multiple times and again became interested in their choice to shut off images or light in order to create their work. I have a lot of clips stored on my computer from last year and wanted to do something with them so I imported a load of them into premiere and started playing around. I began by just dragging small sections of clips on to the work space which then evolved into a repeating pattern. I then started changing the the speed and duration of these repeating patterns which caused the videos to gradually start flashing more and more harshly. The clips evolved from something i knew and recognised to something jarring and unreachable in terms of my own narrative. I find myself again looking at clips as different entities/ screens within a whole and the fragmentary nature of that.
