From thinking more about sound in my last experiment, I wanted to do more to focus on this idea of discontinuity of time between the sound and the image. I choose a clip and decided to remove the audio completely, re narrativising it with clips from the present. In this way I brought together past and present by combining media from the old and the new. To me, this both fractures time yet also draws comparisons between them by using the present clips to seemingly answer or respond to the audio. I also decided to play again with the idea of using smaller frames within the overall frame of the piece, drawing attention to these images as separate rather than the normal flow of a clip we expect. The space around the fragment also lets the audio breathe, and doesn't demand the viewer puts all their focus on the visual only. The fracturing of audio and image I have put into place here makes me want to work with these sort of clips in a slightly different way, perhaps literally combining them on the screen to create a new image, whilst still allowing space around them so they can act in collaboration with the audio.
